It’s #TheMediaLadyMonday back at it again. I’m excited for another round and I’m ready to connect and conversate with you. My challenge, as I’m sure it is with many, is that there is so much in me, so I wonder what to post or say next. Does that ever happen to you? Yep, I know it does; especially in creatives, entrepreneurs, small businesses; all of us. This can be one of those challenges right up there with perfection – I don’t know what to do next so I do nothing. Not. Cool. At least a lot of times it’s not – you have to clearly know when it’s right to do nothing as your next move. As I’m writing this, I’m realizing that I’m loving where I am…in the beginning. The beginning is a great place to be because it’s a place of growth, learning, meeting and connecting with new people. Healthy infant stage directions can only be forward and include learning, teaching, revealing what works/what doesn’t, necessary adjustments, timing, and so much more. Don’t get me wrong, there still has to be a level of quality and skill to begin but it doesn’t have to be perfect.

One day a previous coworker and I were taking a walk on break. I was rambling on about how I wanted to do this, and that, and that and that…you get the picture. She so smoothly interrupted me and asked “How do you eat an elephant?” I looked at her strangely and thought that maybe I was talking too much and she wanted to shut me up by abruptly changing the conversation. Turns out, this was one of the greatest questions that I’ve ever been asked. My answer, of course, was “I don’t know, how?” She answered “One bite at a time.” Simple yet pure genius. There is so much in us that’s “really big” and we want to do it all right now. #NoteToSelf: we can do it all – one bite, or I’ll say, one step at a time. That’s how we get things done. Some steps will be fast, some slow, some big, some small but either way – it’s a step and it’s still progress. Whatever you do, keep steppin’ – one step at a time.

Can you identify? Talk to me.
